Hey there, flavor enthusiasts and culinary adventurers! At Old Major Market, we believe that great food starts with great practices. Today, we’re sharing how our commitment to sustainability shapes everything we do, from sourcing ingredients to packaging our products.
Sustainable Sourcing
We work closely with local farms that prioritize sustainable farming practices. Our partners include Dewig Meats, Indiana Packers Corporation, Legacy Farms, Miller Poultry, and Maple Leaf Farms. Shopping local is good for keeping dollars in state and thus closer to home, it also reduces the amount of time in transit which reduces environmental impact.
Eco-Friendly Packaging
Our commitment to the environment extends to our packaging. We use recyclable and biodegradable materials wherever possible, reducing waste and minimizing our environmental footprint. Our goal is to provide you with delicious products while caring for our planet.
Waste Reduction Initiatives
We purchase in quantities that require less cardboard and plastic like bringing our proteins in combo bins instead of cases. The card board we do use, gets recycled.
Energy Efficiency
Our facilities are equipped with energy-efficient appliances and lighting to reduce our energy consumption. We’re continuously exploring ways to incorporate renewable energy sources into our operations.
Community Involvement
We actively engage with our local community to promote sustainability. From participating in farmers markets to hosting educational events, we’re committed to raising awareness about sustainable practices and supporting local initiatives.
